Class Syllabus
The syllabus for the CLICK TO CALM class is based in part on
Emma Parson’s book: CLICK TO CALM:
Healing the Aggressive Dog. Emma Parsons is recognized as a leader
in developing and promoting clicker training protocols to modify inappropriate aggressive behavior in dogs.
Topics covered in class include:
Clicker training and its use with reactive or aggressive dogs
Health and behavior
Understanding how dogs learn
Understanding how dogs communicate
Reasons for and types of aggressive or reactive behavior
Fixing the problem: desensitization and counter-conditioning protocols

Do you and your dog need this class?
If your dog does any of the following, you should consider this class:
Barks/growls at strangers or other dogs when on leash
Barks/growls when there is a knock on the door or at strangers when they enter
the home
Is afraid of certain types of people (like men or children), or objects (like
cars or vacuum cleaners)
HATES going to the vet
HATES going to the groomers
HATES cats
HATES other dogs
Resource Guards
Sensitive or fearful of having any parts of its
body touched or handled (nail clipping, ear cleaning, or grooming)

Class Schedule
Group CLICK TO CALM classes will be held once a month on the first
Saturday of each month when applications are pending. The class is also offered as a private class. Classes are held at the Clicking With Canines classroom in Endicott.

The group classes will begin at 10:00 AM.
(NO DOGS AT THE LECTURE SEGMENT OF THE CLASS). At 1:00 PM, the private
lessons and evaluations that are part of the class will begin. This will require
owner to return home to get their dogs. Other times for the private lessons can
be scheduled. All
participants must pre-register for class. Click here to fill out an application.

Class Cost
The cost of the class is $100.00, payable by cash or check. (Private
in-home sessions are $125.00)
The class includes a three-hour lecture and one private lesson to evaluate
each dog and demonstrate how to begin the process of modifying the dog’s behavior.
Each participant will receive a clicker with wrist coil, treat bag,
and handouts covering specifics on how to work with their dog. Also included is unlimited phone and email support.
The class will be sufficient for most clients
to have the knowledge and skills to help their dog.
For dogs with more serious issues and/or owners who desire more work with
the trainers, additional private sessions may be purchased in blocks of three lessons for $120.00.
